Sensory Birth Map Workbook
This workbook is a resource I use with all birthing families.
During labour we naturally become incredibly sensitive to the environment we’re in. Sometimes the idea of a birth plan can overwhelm us so it can be easier to envision how we want to feel. This workbook is an incredible resource if you’re finding it hard to connect to your birth space. Focusing in on the finer details helps us to ultimately build the bigger vision to share with our birth support team.
No matter where or how you birth, this workbook is useful in allowing you to flesh out your desires and bring your vision to life. Sending birthing blessings to all, I share this resource with the most love filled intentions.
Note: This is not a ‘birth plan’ resource - I encourage you to write a Birth Plan with your doula as well and to then marry your sensory birth map and your birth plan together to share with your birth team.
This workbook will be shared with you via a downloadable link live for 24 hours. You can download and print, or upload into canva/illustrator and edit on your computer from there. If you have any issues with the download you can email me at hello@thelivingdoula.com
It is with the purchase of this workbook you agree to never share or duplicate the information within it, without the creator’s approval. Many thanks.

This map provides a framework and a structure for your support team to nurture you with while you walk into the mystery of the birthing portal.
Each segment is an invitation for you to consider your birth from a sensory perspective. The days we birth create core memories. Just like we'd take time to consider all the details of our wedding day or a special milestone celebration, I encourage you to explore your birthing day with the same sentiment.
Birth is a sensory experience on every level. It takes you to places to meet your edge from a physical, mental and emotional perspective. The goal of this map is to meet the intensity of those edges with oxytocin. Our bodies are designed to give birth. This map is designed to work with your own physiology. We're all unique, and so are our births hence why this activity of completing this map to your own specific preferences is key in boosting your own individual oxytocin receptors. Reflect on what brings you joy, what calms you and also what irritates you. This will help guide you as to what you do want in your birthing space, and what you don't.
This map is a guide but let your own interpretation flow through you. Light a candle, pour yourself a warm beverage and dream.
